{"id":7271,"date":"2025-03-09T11:08:11","date_gmt":"2025-03-09T16:08:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blueoceana.com\/?p=7271"},"modified":"2025-03-09T14:54:46","modified_gmt":"2025-03-09T19:54:46","slug":"worker-fatally-injured-in-ro-ro-vessel-cargo-operations-catania-italy-04-march-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blueoceana.com\/?p=7271","title":{"rendered":"Worker Fatally Injured in Ro-Ro Vessel Cargo Operations  [Catania, Italy  04 March 2025]"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Information reaching Blueoceana Company has us understand that Sr. Vincenzo Giova, 52, a port worker and father of four, was killed in an accident aboard the Grimaldi Group&#8217;s <strong>M\/V EUROCARGO RAVENNA<\/strong> (<em>See<\/em> photo below) during loading\/unloading operations while the vessel was at the port of Catania, Sicily, Italy on 04 March 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two news iterations that speak to the accident were immediately available (<em>See<\/em> links to media accounts below). One indicates that Sr. Giova was &#8220;&#8230;. <em>crushed by a container<\/em>&#8230;&#8221;; while another sets out the identity of a &#8220;&#8230; <em> 60 year old Catania maneuverer<\/em>&#8230;&#8221; who is listed as a suspect in the requisite prosecutor&#8217;s investigation. We must assume that this suspect was operating a tractor positioning a container within the vessel&#8217;s Ro-Ro decks when the crushing accident occurred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vessel tracking sources indicate that <strong>M\/V EUROCARGO RAVENNA<\/strong> continues to be held by the authorities at Cantania port (five days after the accident occurred), while the prosecutor&#8217;s investigation
