{"id":6551,"date":"2023-08-23T16:55:21","date_gmt":"2023-08-23T21:55:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.blueoceana.com\/?p=6551"},"modified":"2023-08-24T10:42:25","modified_gmt":"2023-08-24T15:42:25","slug":"dockworker-dead-in-drowning-accident-jalan-khoo-peng-loong-borneo-malaysia-19-august-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blueoceana.com\/?p=6551","title":{"rendered":"Dockworker Dead in Drowning Accident [Jalan Khoo Peng Loong, Borneo (Malaysia) &#8211; 19 August 2023]"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>With great regret, Blueoceana Company has received information which chronicles the drowning death of Mr. Hii Kee Soon, 48, described in media accounts as a &#8220;Dockworker-Coolie&#8221; [non-pejorative] at the river port of Jalan Khoo Peng Loong, Borneo (Malaysia) on 19 August 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From those media accounts (<em>See<\/em> links below), we&#8217;re made to understand that Mr. Soon was assisting in the  loading of an &#8220;express boat&#8221; when he fell into the water. We have no information about how or why he fell, but do know that he was seen &#8220;struggling&#8221; in the water immediately after the fall. Rescue was apparently impossible, presumably owing to the river&#8217;s swift current.
