{"id":6530,"date":"2023-08-09T08:02:20","date_gmt":"2023-08-09T13:02:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.blueoceana.com\/?p=6530"},"modified":"2023-08-09T08:04:07","modified_gmt":"2023-08-09T13:04:07","slug":"two-longshore-workers-victims-in-apparent-atmospheric-incident-aboard-bulk-carrier-puerto-coronel-chile-07-august-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blueoceana.com\/?p=6530","title":{"rendered":"Two Longshore Workers Victims in Apparent Atmospheric Incident Aboard Bulk Carrier  [Puerto Coronel, Chile &#8211; 07 August 2023]"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>With great regret, Blueoceana Company has learned of the death of two longshore workers who were  aboard the coal bulker <strong>M\/V SAKIZAYA MIRACLE<\/strong> (<em>See<\/em> photo, below) at the Chilean port of Coronel on Monday, August 7, 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Srs. Fabi\u00e1n Garay and Alejandro Cama\u00f1o were apparently preparing for the coal cargo&#8217;s discharge within one of the vessel&#8217;s holds and were shortly later found overcome. They were both placed within a personnel cage and lifted to shore (<em>See<\/em> video clip, below), but the retrieval was to no avail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While toxicology reports are not available at this early date, it has been theorized that both were overcome by the formation of carbon monoxide within the coal-laden hold of the vessel.
