Information relayed from a friend with knowledge of Owendo port, Gabon, tells us that an as-yet unnamed dockworker there fell to his death from a bulk cargo hopper yesterday morning (25 May 2023], when a clamshell bucket being moved by a mobile harbor crane made substantial contact with the hopper during a slewing movement; knocking it over. The fatally injured worker was apparently in a position on the hopper when it (and he) was displaced. .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are no media reports available at present, and we have no idea as to when any will be forthcoming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our source has, however, relayed a relevant video clip. And while the video clip provided below does not depict the actual accident taking place, it does show the rescue attempt in the aftermath. Readers are warned, therefore<\/strong>, that the accident victim is shown supine (on his back) on the dock’s surface awaiting retrieval to an ambulance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
