From a close friend and colleague in U.K., Blueoceana Company is saddened to understand that a merchant mariner working aboard\u00a0 M\/V CLIPPER PENNANT<\/strong>\u00a0(See\u00a0<\/em>photo below) was fatally backed-over by a tractor-trailer combination being discharged at Liverpool port (U.K.) on 20 July.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This type of accident has become quite common aboard Ro-Ro vessels of late. Appropriate training and continuing reminders relating to vehicular struck-by hazards to all labor and management staff engaged in such cargo operations is a worthwhile exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
