Late arriving news coming to Blueoceana Company reports that a 32 year old yard tractor operator was killed in the lanes beneath one of the Port of Tanjung Priok’s dockside container gantry cranes on the afternoon of 09 July.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The media accounts we’ve been able to isolate (See<\/em><\/strong> links below), while roughly translated from the original Indonesian, appear to relate that the operator (known to us as “E.J.”) was driving within one of the apron’s lanes and then suddenly switched into an adjacent lane. The adjacent lane, however is alleged to have been occupied by another yard tractor, blocking “E.J.”‘s forward movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the intervening period of time, the container gantry crane working a corresponding bay of C\/V MERATUS KARIANGAU <\/strong>(See <\/em><\/strong>photo below) was in the process of discharging a container to the dock. Apparently, “E.J.” did not realize that the container was coming down directly in front of him and crashed into the suspended box, headlong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
