Late arriving information coming to Blueoceana Company from friends at the Italian port of Taranto, tells us that Natalino Albano, 49, a crane operator and foreman engaged in loading large pieces of wind turbine equipment aboard an unnamed vessel at that port on the afternoon of 29 April, was compelled to jump a reported 20+ meters from his operator’s position to the dock below and suffered fatal injuries as a consequence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reports coming to us, reveal that a sling supporting a draft of the cargo being hoisted failed, causing the cargo to shift and swing in the direction of Mr. Albano. Apparently, he sensed that his only option was to quickly evacuate his position…… so he jumped.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Loosely translated media reports (See<\/em> below) provide sometimes contradictory information as to the height of the fall, but we believe the foregoing measurement to be correct.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We understand that principal and cooperating trade unions undertook a nationwide strike the following day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
