{"id":4568,"date":"2020-08-21T13:31:17","date_gmt":"2020-08-21T18:31:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.blueoceana.com\/?p=4568"},"modified":"2020-08-21T16:10:18","modified_gmt":"2020-08-21T21:10:18","slug":"longshore-worker-killed-when-cranes-cable-breaks-turks-caicos-10-august-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blueoceana.com\/?p=4568","title":{"rendered":"Longshore Worker Killed When Crane&#8217;s Cable Breaks  [Turks &#038; Caicos &#8211; 10 August 2020]"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>With great regret, we understand that an as yet unnamed longshore worker was killed on 10 August during cargo operations at the South Dock, Providenciales, Turks and Caicos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The media report linked-to below indicates that a crane&#8217;s cable broke while lifting a container, causing the crane&#8217;s boom to drop and fall on the worker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our recollection, is that container services at Providenciales&#8217; South Dock are very basic; with little in the way of sophisticated lifting appliances.
