{"id":4195,"date":"2019-12-26T17:48:56","date_gmt":"2019-12-26T22:48:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.blueoceana.com\/?p=4195"},"modified":"2019-12-26T17:48:57","modified_gmt":"2019-12-26T22:48:57","slug":"cardiac-event-claims-the-life-of-lasher-aboard-containership-port-elizabeth-new-jersey-26-december-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blueoceana.com\/?p=4195","title":{"rendered":"Cardiac Event Claims The Life of Lasher Aboard Containership [Port Elizabeth, New Jersey &#8211; 26 December 2019]"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>This morning at approximately 9:00 AM local time, a veteran lasher and member of ILA Local Union 1804-1 suffered a fatal heart attack while conducting operations aboard <strong>C\/V COSCO DEVELOPMENT<\/strong> (<em>See<\/em> photos below).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reports coming to Blueoceana Company indicate that Mr. Carlos Lopez had complained to his lashing partner that he wasn&#8217;t feeling well at the beginning of their shift.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The partner was agreeable to conducting the more strenuous work (releasing turnbuckles and rods), while Mr. Lopez performed less strenuous activity (unlocking SATLs).
