With great regret, Blueoceana Company has been made to understand that two longshore workers became the latest victims of yet another atmospheric-related incident earlier this morning aboard the M\/V UNI FORTUNE<\/strong> (see photo below) while at the Vietnamese port of\u00a0Quy Nhon.<\/p>\n

The sole report of this accident that is presently available comes from MARITIME BULLETIN<\/strong>, and we provide a link to that report below.<\/p>\n

In it, a circumstance involving a cargo or wood chips (organic material) is brought to light, with an account that the two workers “…\u00a0fainted and fell into hold…” <\/em><\/strong>Should further information come into our\u00a0possession, we will update this posting accordingly.<\/p>\n

UPDATE 16 September 2018 [12:30 PM EST]:\u00a0<\/strong>A subsequent report (see link below) published by VIET NAM NEWS<\/strong> has identified the two fatally injured longshore workers as\u00a0Nguy\u1ec5<\/b>n Vi\u1ec7<\/b>t Ho\u00e0ng, 41, and\u00a0Nguy\u1ec5<\/b>n V\u0103<\/b>n Ng\u1eef<\/b>, 31. Moreover, that report clarifies the fact that the workers were in fact in one of the cargo holds; trimming the cargo of wood chips, at the time of initial debilitation. In apparent conflict with the outcome, however, the report indicates that “…\u00a0Hold No. 2, where the two drivers were killed, was cleaned up and checked for safety before the drivers entered it.”\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>Finally, that same report provides that “<\/strong><\/em>Quy Nh\u01a1n\u00a0Port delivered the victims\u2019 bodies to their hometowns and supported their families\u00a0with VN\u011010 million (US$430) each.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n
