{"id":1528,"date":"2017-04-02T14:49:13","date_gmt":"2017-04-02T19:49:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.blueoceana.com\/?p=1528"},"modified":"2017-04-03T13:01:20","modified_gmt":"2017-04-03T18:01:20","slug":"port-driver-struck-and-killed-by-front-end-loader-24-march-2017-south-port-new-zealand","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blueoceana.com\/?p=1528","title":{"rendered":"Port Driver Struck and Killed by Front End Loader  [24 February 2017 &#8211; South Port, New Zealand]"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Blueoceana Company has learned from sources in New Zealand, that Colin Ross Hansen, a fifty-four year old South Port worker, was struck and killed by a front end loader marshaling a cargo of bulk palm kernel during the discharge of a vessel at this Southernmost of New Zealand ports (see photo below) on 24 February 2017.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blueoceana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/1487912887030.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1532\" src=\"https:\/\/blueoceana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/1487912887030.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"619\" height=\"349\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blueoceana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/1487912887030.jpg 619w, https:\/\/blueoceana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/1487912887030-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 619px) 100vw, 619px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We understand that during the normal discharge of \u00a0<strong>M\/V MOLAT <\/strong>(see photo below), a bulk carrier of some 28355 deadweight tons flying the Croatian flag, Mr. Hansen, an employee of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tslnz.com\">Transport Services, Ltd<\/a>., exited his truck to assess potential damage caused by a minor &#8220;fender bender&#8221; with another vehicle. Reports we&#8217;ve received indicate that he was subsequently run over by the front end loader, which was in process of marshaling the palm kernel cargo ashore. Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful; he died on the dock. The time of the accident was marked at 1:40 AM.<\/p>\n<p>At present, ambient conditions (weather, illumination, etc.) are unknown.
