The ILA~USMX Joint Safety Committee is undertaking an accident investigation, and was at the marine terminal very shortly after the accident occurred. While anticipating another shoe to drop before too long, it is reasonable to relate at this point that Ms. Jones was working on the dock in servicing the C/V CAP HUDSON (on charter to Hamburg-Sud). She excused herself to visit a nearby ladies’ room (approximately 400 yards from the hatch being worked by her gang), and while in pedestrian transit she was struck by a very new container top loader moving in forward gear. Based upon the progress of the investigation thus far, there will be more information to come.
Developing Now: The dropped shoe appears below, but Blueoceana Company would like to preface any further commentary:
Reported accusations are merely that: accusations. Apart from the story found at the link that follows below, there has been no independent confirmation as to veracity of content. Also, in our system of justice, an individual accused of a crime can be found guilty if, and only if, evidence establishes such guilt within a well defined legal process. In other words, the accused (if in fact there is an accused) is innocent until proven guilty. We’ll leave it at that, for now.
