Blueoceana Company has been informed of a fatal accident occurring earlier today at Cagliari Port, Sardinia, in which Sr. Carlo Spiga, 61, an over-the-road trucker regularly calling at the port to pick-up/drop-off cargo, was crushed by a load of pipe that had separated from a sling and fell on him. Initial reports (See media accounts linked-to below), indicate that the serviceable condition of the sling has been called into question, inasmuch as at least one such report alleges that “…. the straps holding the load broke.”
