Export Grain Elevator Worker Fatally Injured; Another Worker Hospitalized [La Rochelle Port, France – 06 March 2026]
Information coming to Blueoceana Company has us understand that an as-yet-unnamed 60 year old worker was killed and another was seriously injured at the Socomac export grain marine terminal at La Rochelle port on Friday (06 March).
Media reports (See below) reveal that the workers were preparing for upcoming maintenance of the grain elevator’s system of belt conveyers, when a one ton counterweight used to stretch/tighten the material that forms the conveyor’s belt accidentally fell striking the decedent and ejecting the other worker from the working surface that had both occupied.
