Indonesian Docker Struck by Displaced Container; Knocked Overboard in Vessel’s Quick Listing Action [Tanjung Perak Port, Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia – 02 February 2026]
Information coming to Blueoceana Company has us understand that an as-yet-unnamed docker working aboard M/V PACIFIC 88 (See photos above & below) was knocked overboard during a quick listing moment which occurred during cargo operations at Tanjung Perak port, Indonesia yesterday [02 February 2026]. The latest report tells us that the worker did not survive.
M/V PACIFIC 88 (built in 1992) is listed as a general cargo/heavy lift vessel, but photographs and video footage (See also below) show her carrying a substantially complete cargo of intermodal containers. We suspect that inadequate planning/ballasting issues will be brought forward within the context of cause.
