Port Driver Hauling Container Skids Into Harbor; Drowns [Nouakchott, Mauritania – 25 June 2025]

Information coming to Blueoceana Company would have us understand that an as-yet-unnamed port driver involved in dockside vessel discharge operations skidded and slid into the harbor at Nouakchott, Mauritania (West Africa) on 25 June 2025.

Media reports (See below) indicate that while an immediate rescue attempt was initiated the drivers body was not recovered from the depths of the harbor berthing area until approximately two days later.

At present, there is no indication as to which vessel was being worked nor whether or not any sort of bull rail was present at the water’s edge (stringpiece). Should further information become available, this post will be updated accordingly.
