Information reaching Blueoceana Company today would have us understand that Mr. Kenneth Messervey, a veteran member of International Longshoremen’s Association Local Union 269 , suffered a fall from his toploader while engaged in the cleaning of the container handling machine’s windows on Tuesday, 04 March 2025 at the PSA Atlantic Hub Terminal, Halifax, Nova Scotia. The media account linked-to below speaks of the accident, characterizing it, in the words of the terminal operator’s spokesperson, as “an unfortunate safety incident.”
Admitted to hospital that morning, Mr. Messervey’s condition subsequently worsened and prompted mechanical life support intervention. Such intervention was apparently withdrawn on Saturday, 15 March 2025, after hope for his recovery was deemed unsustainable.
We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends and his ILA colleagues.
