News reaching Blueoceana Company today has us understand that Mr. Matsuo Nakazawa, a 73 year old longshoreman/terminal tractor operator at Yokohama port’s Honmoku Marine Terminal, received crushing injuries while under the hook awaiting a container being discharged from an RTG stack on the morning of 02 August 2024.
For as-yet undetermined reasons, the container was either erroneously released from the crane’s spreader prematurely or mistakenly displaced from an adjacent container stack, landing on the rear section of the cab Mr. Nakazawa was sitting in; pushing it inward (See photo below)
While the victim’s crushing injuries were serious, he apparently also suffered a heart attack… which was listed as the official cause of death later that afternoon.
