Port Maintenance Worker Killed in Vehicular Accident at Breakbulk Terminal [Houston, Texas – 07 May 2024]

With great regret, Blueoceana Company has been made to understand that an ILA port maintenance worker in the employ of the Houston Port Authority was fatally injured very early this morning when his privately-owned pickup truck collided with 60 foot long sections of steel beam cargo being carried by a tractor-trailer combination at the Turning Basin Terminal (City Docks) of this port city.

Mr. Kenneth Davis, a member of ILA Local Union 1530, is reported to have driven into the rear of the vehicle combination that was hauling the steel beams; moving from the terminal’s wharf to the facility’s adjacent “drop yard.” It is presently unknown as to whether or not Mr. Davis was engaged in operating his vehicle to/from the worksite or was perhaps utilizing the vehicle in conjunction with his job assignment.

We hope to have further information detailing the particulars of this accident. If and when we come by that addition data, this bulletin will be updated below.
