Fatal Injuries Claim the Life of a Chilean Port Worker [Arica, Chile – 02 March 2024]

Limited information reaching Blueoceana Company has us understand that Sr. Maverik Choque Felipez, a worker on staff of the marine terminal operator/stevedore Ultraport at the Chilean port of Arica, died today while in a local hospital. He had apparently been injured in a workplace accident nine (9) days before (22 February), and did not recover from those injuries.

The media report linked-to below represents the sole source of knowledge presently offered to us. We’ve researched the internet through every available avenue (including the use of translation services) and we’re unable to uncover any other factual information regarding this particular accident.

It’s ironic, that our information comes to us in the form of a media report which merely parrots the rote condolence message (thought and prayers, etc.) of the worker’s employer. A message, we might add, which is getting somewhat tedious… given the repetitive nature of it being offered in the wake of fatal Ultraport workplace accidents in the short and long term.
