Longshore Worker Fatally Injured; Backed-Over By Reachstacker [Bari Port, Italy – 30 December 2023]

Media accounts reaching Blueoceana Company have us understand that Sr. Angelo Rossini, a 51 year old longshoreman at Bari port, Italy, was backed over by a reachstacker during on-dock container operations at that port on 30 December 2023.

It’s reported that Sr. Rossini was engaged in container discharge activities from an unnamed vessel when struck by the reversing industrial truck. Both he and the reachstacker operator were described as “highly experienced” workers. Reports indicate that there were no witnesses to the accident.

First responder attempts to preserve his life proved “useless.”

Sr. Rossini leaves behind a wife and two daughters.
