Marine Terminal Gantry Crane Mechanic Dead in Fall From Boom [Keelung Port, Taiwan – 06 November 2023]
With great regret, Blueoceana Company has received information which relates that a 45 year old crane mechanic working at Pier 18 within a Keelung port container terminal, fell from his position while accessing a container crane boom. He plunged approximately 10 stories; into the harbor’s waters.
Known to us only as “Yang” (his surname), the media report linked-to below alleges that he was engaged in “high altitude rust removal operations” when he fell. He sustained multiple rib fractures and, according to the autopsy report, was victim of a drowning death.
