With great regret, Blueoceana Company has received information telling us that a 71 year old longshore worker known to us only as Ma’adin A was fatally injured in a fall from the cabin of a truck receiving bagged fertilizer from M/V PELITA MANDIRI 8 (See photos, above & below).
Media reports (See links, below) imply that the bagged fertilizer was being discharged using ship’s gear and cargo nets, and that during the landing exercise one such draft was upset by a gust of wind and knocked Mr. Ma’adin A from his position atop the truck’s structure. He fell to the ground, striking his head. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
