Longshore Worker Fatally Crushed In Cargo Hold By Falling Bale [Taranto, Puglia, Italy – 25 July 2023]

Information received today by Blueoceana Company instructs us that Sr. Antonio Bellanova, 31, a longshore worker involved in the discharge of a cargo of “ecobales” out of the Panamanian-flagged M/V TURGUT SAHIN, (See photo below) was fatally crushed when one of the compressed refuse bales fell on him while working in one of the vessel’s cargo holds.

Facts coming to us do not relate whether the bale fell during hoisting or perhaps fell out of stow. The result, however, was tragic nonetheless.
