Marine Terminal Worker Killed in Vehicular Accident [San Antonio, Chile – 30 March 2023]

Information coming to Blueoceana Company supports the fact that marine terminal worker, Daniel Gutiérrez Abarca, 40, was struck by a yard tractor/trailer combination while occupying “a booth” within the DP World- operated facility at San Antonio port, Chile in the early morning hours of 30 March 2023. He received serious injuries and died of them while in hospital later in the day. Another worker was also struck, but received less serious injuries and survived.

Media reports (See below) reveal that Sr. Gutiérrez was working the third shift servicing Hapag Lloyd’s C/V SANTOS EXPRESS when the accident occurred at approximately 4:00 AM. Through conjecture only, we believe that both workers struck were performing checker functions.
