Straddle Carrier Operator Fatally Injured in Tipover [Hamburg, Germany – 18 January 2023]

Information coming to Blueoceana Company from a friend at Hamburg port, has us understand that a Eurogate marine terminal worker lost his life when the straddle carrier the was operating tipped over this morning shortly after 5:00 AM local time.

With that knowledge, research has made two media accounts available (See below).

We’re hoping to learn more in terms of contributory cause. When (and if) such information becomes available to us, we will update this notice accordingly.

UPDATE – 24 January 2023 – 5:00 PM EST:

We have learned that the fatally injured worker’s name was Mr. Ralf Niemann, a 43 year old docker who is survived by a wife and a four year old son.
