Reefer Mechanic Drowns as Car Plunges Into Harbor [LaSpezia, Italy – 15 December 2022]

Information coming to Blueoceana Company has us understand that a 58 (60) year old refrigeration mechanic was killed in a drowning accident last Thursday [15 December] at LaSpezia port, Italy, when a car he was driving plunged into the Ligurian province’s harbor without apparent cause. A medical issue is suspected, but not yet confirmed.

Sr. Alessandro Bassi was operating a late model hatchback sedan transporting reefer parts and was accompanied by a fellow worker at the time of the incident. The passenger was able to free himself from the confines of the vehicle and swim back to the terminal. Sr. Bassi was not similarly disposed.
