Pedestrian Marine Terminal Worker Crushed by Rear Wheels of Container Reachstacker [Umm Qasr, Iraq – 07 December 2022]

Blueoceana Company has been informed that on or about 07 December 2022, within the Basra Multipurpose Terminal (BMT) at the Persian Gulf port of Umm Qasr [Basra Governorate], Iraq, a worker (likely a checker) holding some paperwork was run over and killed by the maneuvering rear wheels of a container reachstacker after providing instructions to the machine’s operator.

Given the press limitations generally experienced at Iraq, we’re unsure that much more in the way of information will be available through normal media channels. Nonetheless, should further factual information become available privately it will be posted here in the form of an UPDATE.

The video clip below is very explicit. Sensitive eyes should probably not put it into motion

Note: Blueoceana Company was initially informed that this accident occurred at the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas. That information was inaccurate. We regret the error.
