Lasher Drowns In Fall From Container Ship [Kingston Port, Jamaica – 12 July 2022]

With great regret, Blueoceana has come to understand that Mr. Scot Bamburry, a lasher, drowned in waters adjacent to a small (unnamed) containership he was aboard at Berth 8 when he fell overboard during the handling of a lashing rod. During an interview, one port official conjectured that he lost his balance while next to an outboard stow.

Mr. Bamburry, 39, was a 2008 graduate of the Caribbean Maritime University, where he received a diploma in international shipping and logistics. This was his “dream job.”
