Over-The-Road-Drayman Victim In Fatal Container Yard Run-Over [Boston, Massachusetts – 15 June 2022]

News coming to Blueoceana Company this afternoon reveals that a 41 year old as-yet-unnamed over the road trucker was struck and killed at approximately 11:30 AM today by another over the road trucker hauling an empty intermodal chassis through the container yard of Massport’s Conley Container Terminal, Boston port, Massachusetts.

We are able to provide links to two (2) short video clips which represent the accident’s location, and to two (2) separate media accounts.

UPDATE: 16 June 2022/7:00 AM EST

Information coming to us would have us understand that immediately before this fatal accident occurred the terminal shut down one of two MT container loading piles, creating a rush for some drayman to get to the remaining MT container loading pile. While not confirmed, there’s every reason to believe that the ensuing race to the remaining pile has some bearing within the causal component.

Also, in a marine terminal environment wherein most operators instruct over the road draymen to remain in their tractors’ cabs (except within approved areas), why was this particular trucker a pedestrian within the container stacks?
