Stevedore Worker Falls To His Death From Container Stack [Auckland, New Zealand – 19 April 2022]

With great regret, Blueoceana Company has learned of a fatal accident occurring earlier today at the Ports of Auckland, New Zealand. In that accident, 26 year old longshore worker Mr. Atiroa Tuaiti is said to have fallen from a deck stowed container aboard Singapore-flagged M/V CAPITAINE TASMAN (See photo below) while the vessel was starboard side to at a facility operated by the stevedoring company, Wallace Investments.

Further particulars as to cause/prevention are matters of conjecture at present, but we do know that Mr. Tuaiti’s employer is (according to the firm’s website) ISO 45001-certified. Should further information become available, it will be posted here as an update.
