Seatruck Line Mariner Fatally Injured During Ro-Ro Ferry Discharge Operation [Liverpool, U.K. – 20 July 2021]

From a close friend and colleague in U.K., Blueoceana Company is saddened to understand that a merchant mariner working aboard  M/V CLIPPER PENNANT (See photo below) was fatally backed-over by a tractor-trailer combination being discharged at Liverpool port (U.K.) on 20 July.

This type of accident has become quite common aboard Ro-Ro vessels of late. Appropriate training and continuing reminders relating to vehicular struck-by hazards to all labor and management staff engaged in such cargo operations is a worthwhile exercise.
