Belgian Docker Fatally Injured When Struck Shipboard By Gantry Crane [Antwerp, Belgium – 14 July 2020]

Late arriving news coming from the Port of Antwerp, Belgium relates that a 59 year old docker was fatally injured aboard a bulk cargo vessel at that port on 14 July 2020.

Media accounts tell of his being struck by (and ultimately under) a gantry crane while serving as a “deckhand”. For now, we must assume that it was a rail mounted, shipboard gantry. Below, we provide a link to one such media account, roughly translated from the original Dutch.
