Container Falls During Cargo Operations; Fatally Crushes Crew Member [Santa Cruz, Canary Islands – 20 June 2020]

Withe great regret, Blueoceana Company has been made to understand that an as-yet unnamed 30 year old Russian crew member serving aboard the Ro-Ro ferry M/V CIUDAD de PALMA (See photo below) was crushed underneath a fallen intermodal container during cargo operations at Santa Cruz Port, Canary Island this morning (20 June 2020).

Two other crew members were also seriously injured, with rescue efforts being provided for all three victims by local longshore workers.
