Veteran Dockworker Dead In Shipboard Coal Discharge Operation [Gijon Port, Spain – 02 February 2020]

With great regret, Blueoceana Company has received information from friends in Europe that José Antonio Sesmilo, 56, was fatally injured aboard the Dutch-flagged M/V ARKLOW VALUE in the El Musel section of Gijon Port, Spain earlier this morning (02 February).

Reports received here, indicate that Sr. Sesmilo was in the vessel’s hold during a coal discharge operation; signaling to a shoreside crane operator when he was struck by the crane’s clamshell bucket.
