Rigger Suffers Fatal Traumatic Injuries Aboard Ro-Ro Vessel [Tilbury, UK – 21 January 2020]

Blueoceana Company has been made aware of a fatal accident occurring at aboard a Ro-Ro vessel docked at Tilbury Port (UK) this morning (9:30 AM Local Time).

Media reports currently available are somewhat vague, and are distinct in their inability to speak even of the type of vessel this accident took place aboard (nor any other aspect of this event having prime relevance).

Notwithstanding, we have learned from sources on site that the port worker who died was working as a rigger (likely a lasher) aboard the vessel and was struck by a reversing tractor/trailer maneuvering into a stowage position.

If and when supplemental information of a relevant nature is made available, such information will be posted here an an update.
