Port Worker Fatally Injured In Fall Into Bulker’s Cargo Hold [Koper, Slovenia – 20 November 2019]

While local media coverage appears somewhat minimal, Blueoceana Company has been made to understand that Mr. Denis Turk, a 47 year old casual/contract docker, suffered a fatal fall of approximately 14-17 Meters (45.9-55.7 Feet) from a vertical ladder; into the hold of M/V KNOSSOS at the Port of Koper, Slovenia last Wednesday (20 November 2019) afternoon.

It has been alleged that the fatally injured worker was advised by his foreman to not use the ladder, but to rather wait for a crane-supported personnel safety carrier to transport him out of the hold. We await further confirmation.
