Longshore Worker Struck and Killed By Container During Loading Operations [Castries, St. Lucia – 11 April 2019]

Reports coming to Blueoceana Company from the Port of Castries, St Lucia, bear out the fact that Wilson A. Joseph, 54, a longshoreman assisting with the loading of 40′ containers aboard M/V BALTIC KLIPPER, was struck by one such container and allegedly caught between it and another stationary container already aboard the ship, causing fatal injuries.

We understand that containerized banana loading operations were being conducted by stevedore contractor Kudos, on behalf of Winfresh, an exporter/transporter of various forms of produce from Caribbean locales: https://www.winfresh.net

The St. Lucia Air and Seaports Authority claims that Mr. Joseph’s death is the first in 36 years at their port facilities.
