With great regret, Blueoceana Company has been made aware of a fatal accident occurring at the Groveport Site, River Trent, Gunness. In that accident, a 54 year old docker was allegedly impacted by a “4 tonne iron girder which was being operated by a crane when it [struck] the worker.”

Reports available from various media sources appear to indicate that the accident occurred on a vessel, however, the vessel’s name remains unstated as does other relevant information that could reasonably lead to a rational theory as to cause.

Update: 08 March 2019; 8:30 AM (EST) – Reports coming to Blueoceana Company from friends at Humberside indicate that the worker who lost his life in Wednesday’s accident has been identified as Mr. James Bland.

Update: 13 April 2019; 7:00 PM (EST) – Reports coming to Blueoceana Company indicate that Mr. Bland was slinging steel products on board the still unnamed ship. When the last draft was lifted, it swung towards him and crushed him into the internal bulkhead of the vessel. The weight of the draft was said to be 16 tons.
