Blueoceana Company has just been made aware of a fatal accident that occurred this morning (0705 AM) at a marine terminal’s inbound truck line at the Port of Miami, FL.
We await updates that include more details.
From what we’ve been made to understand at this point, however, an over-the-road truck driver was waiting in the line and decided to exit his vehicle’s cab and lean on the MT chassis being brought into the terminal by another driver in front of him.
That other driver apparently didn’t notice the first driver using his chassis as a leaning post, and when the line began to move…. he moved with it.
The result, in this particular case; if we correctly understand the circumstance described to us, must have looked very much like the events in the attached video (captured years ago at a completely different marine terminal).
At the Port of Miami, as it is at most every U.S. container port, over- the-road truck drivers are instructed in a number of generally effective ways to stay within their trucks unless specifically advised otherwise. Most choose to comply with that instruction.
