Reports coming to Blueoceana Company indicate that an unnamed longshore worker (and young mother of two children) was killed in an industrial accident at ISO, Limited’s log marshaling and stevedoring operation at Gisborne, New Zealand earlier this morning.
From available media reports (see links below), we understand that the victim was struck by a log that had fallen from a transport shuttle on its way to a ship that was being loaded.
ISO, Limited is a subsidiary of the Australia-based Qube organization, a group with extensive logistics/transportation holdings at various ports in Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia and Malaysia.
Supplementary information received will be posted here, as updates.

UPDATE- 10 October 2018 (12:00 AM EST): We are now in possession of a media report (see link immediately above) which has identified the fatally injured longshore worker as Shannon Brooke Rangihuna, a 29 year old mother of two. Summing up the media accounts received thus far, we understand that Ms. Rangihuna was working dockside when a transported log fell from a shuttle trailer and struck her. It remains to be seen if the stacking of logs upon the transport trailers was appropriate, and if so why any one of them would become displaced.
