Once again, late word has come to Blueoceana Company which relates the death of yet another longshoreworker (unnamed) in a straddle carrier turnover event.
In a brief report coming from the local labor organization’s website (see link below) the accident of 01 June 2018 at the Tachinura Container Terminal (TCT) is chronicled. TCT, in Kiku Peninsula, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan sits on reclaimed land belonging to the Port of Kitakyushu. It is generally regarded as the northernmost point in Kyushu Island and is comprised of two separate components (Terminal One & Terminal Two). Both components are characterized by straddle carrier operations, with 17 machines reported to be operating at Terminal One and 13 machines reported to be operating at Terminal two.
