Two shuttle carriers collided during operations today at the Hutchison-run terminal at Port Botany. The cab of at least one of those machines was seriously impacted, and the operator (a female wharfie) was ejected from her position within and thrown to the ground below… a distance of some 8 to 10 meters (Approximately 26 to 32 feet). Our understanding, is that she suffered substantial head injuries and several broken bones. As of one hour ago (10:00 PM Eastern US Time), she was reported to be in an induced coma and “fighting for her life.”
At present we know little more of this incident, but do appreciate the gravity of her circumstance and wish her the most optimistic outcome.
