Truckdriver Struck and Killed at Georgia Ports Authority Intermodal Rail Yard [Savannah, GA ~ 06 December 2016]

David L. Beaver, a 61 year old over-the-road commercial vehicle operator was struck and fatally injured by another truckman this morning (approx 9:00 AM) at the Mason Intermodal Transfer Facility, a GPA near dock rail yard served by the Norfolk Southern Railroad.

We await further reports, which will appear at this page as they become available.

Now coming to us from friends on the ground at Savannah:

06 December: We are made to understand that the fatally injured driver was in process of cleaning out an empty container of residual trash. He was struck by the other driver while in the course of accessing a garbage receptacle for the deposit of that residual trash.

07 December: Reports coming to us indicate that weather conditions at Savannah port yesterday morning were overcast and rainy.
