Longshoreman Run Over By Shuttle Carrier [Algeciras, ES ~ 09 March 2016]
While media coverage has thus far been very modest, Blueoceana Company has learned that a young Spanish dockworker was seriously injured this evening at the Total Terminals’ International (TTI) facility at Algeciras, Spain.
Along with many others, we hope and pray that this young man’s life may be spared and that he may experience a meaningful recovery.
We provide a link to the (roughly) translated article originally appearing at the HORASUR website:
Straddle Carrier Hits Pedestrian Worker at Algeciras (09 March 2016)
Further information coming to Blueoceana Company from colleagues of the injured worker, leads us to believe that the thirty (30) year old dockworker’s name is Daniel Jose Heredia Garcia (shown in the photograph below) and that he was at the time of the accident working as a Specialist Stevedore. Very sadly, they also confirm that Sr. Heredia has in fact lost a leg to this accident and that investigations are being undertaken to arrive at cause and remedy.
Accidents such as these are extremely unsettling and entirely preventable. We express our deepest regrets, and provide our wish for a speedy recovery and comprehensive rehabilitation for Sr. Heredia.
